    FREEMARK ABBEY CHARDONNY

    Chardonnay

    750ml

    Napa Valley, United States
    $25.29
This rich white wine features complex aromas of angel food cake, Fuji apple and baking spices. The palate is full, creamy and rich, with fresh citrus and vibrant acidity. For over half a century, Napa Valley has enjoyed a reputation interchangeable with premium wine. It has gained this reputation for its wine grapes in California for a reason: the amazing complexity that skilled winemakers can coax out of it when grown in optimum locations. They know all about this in the great, old chateaux of Bordeaux, as well as at many younger, but equally prestigious, wineries in Napa Valley. The world’s best wine grapes are grown in these respective regions. The vineyards where the chardonnay grapes are grown have soil that ranges from alluvial sedimentary in Coombsville and Carneros to the mineral volcanic soils of Howell Mountain. The vines are well established and range in age from 11 years to 25 years. After harvest, the majority of this white wine was barrel fermented in French oak. The remaining was fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks. A portion of the lots underwent partial malolactic fermentation in the barrel as well. This wine was aged sur lie was stirred monthly. With proper cellaring, the Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Chardonnay can be aged for up to 8 years for optimal enjoyment.
